CC’s (Our Newborn Foal) 1st Visit With The Veterinarian

On the second day of young CC’s life, the focus was on introducing him to another important member of the family – the local veterinarian. The day began with some grooming and nursing, as well as a little nap time. CC received a lot of attention and admiration from visitors around the barn, making him glow with contentment. When the vet arrived as planned, CC behaved perfectly during the examination, showing no signs of fear or concern.

During CC’s first veterinary visit, several key aspects were assessed to ensure his well-being. The general appearance of a healthy foal includes being alert and curious, easily waking up, stretching, and nursing. Good conformation, such as proper alignment of knees, fetlocks, and feet, was also checked. The cardiovascular system was evaluated by examining pink, moist mucous membranes with a capillary refill time of 1-2 seconds. Additionally, the respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, neurological system, urogenital system, musculoskeletal system, and eyes were all carefully inspected to confirm CC’s excellent health status. The vet confirmed that CC is thriving at two days old and anticipates the next visit with excitement, while CC himself is ready for a snack and some well-deserved rest.
